چکیده

In this paper, we study an emergence of game strategy in multiagent systems. Symbolic and subsymbolic approaches are compared. Symbolic approach is represented by a backtrack algorithm with specified search depth, whereas the subsymbolic approach is represented by feedforward neural networks that are adapted by reinforcement temporal difference TD(lambda) technique. As a test game, we used simplified checkers. Three different strategies were used. The first strategy corresponds to a single agent that repeatedly plays games against MinMax version of a backtrack search method. The second strategy corresponds to single agents that are repeatedly playing a megatournament. The third strategy is an evolutionary modification of the second one. It is demonstrated that all these approaches led to a population of agents very successfully playing checkers against a backtrack algorithm with the search depth 3.

A game theory approach for determining optimum strategy of claim resolution in construction projects

Claim is a big challenge for the contractors and the owners in construction projects. Claims are considered to be one of the most disruptive events of a project. A suitable claim resolution strategy can prevent the damages to the project and the involved parties. In this research, a mathematical model using game theory is presented to find the optimum strategy for resolving cost-related claims ...

An Application of Multiagent Learning in Highly Dynamic Environments

We explore the emergent behavior of game theoretic algorithms in a highly dynamic applied setting in which the optimal goal for the agents is constantly changing. Our focus is on a variant of the traditional predator-prey problem entitled Defender. Consisting of multiple predators and multiple prey, Defender shares similarities with rugby, soccer, and football, in addition to current problems i...

Emergence of Game Strategy in Multiagent Systems

In this thesis we focused on subsymbolic approach to machine game play problem. We worked on two different methods of learning. Our first goal was to test the ability of common feed-forward neural networks and the mixture of expert topology. We have derived reinforcement learning algorithm for mixture of expert network topology. This topology is capable to split the problem into smaller parts, ...

GAME OF COORDINATION FOR BACTERIAL PATTERN FORMATION: A FINITE AUTOMATA MODELLING

In this paper, we use game theory to describe the emergence of self-organization and consequent pattern formation through communicative cooperation in Bacillus subtilis colonies. The emergence of cooperative regime is modelled as an n-player Assurance game, with the bacterial colonies as individual players. The game is played iteratively through cooperative communication, and mediated by exchan...

Emergence of cooperation through coevolving time scale in spatial prisoner's dilemma.

We study evolutionary prisoner's dilemma game by considering adaptive strategy-selection time scale among individuals according to a "win-slower, lose-faster" rule: if an individual successfully resists the invasion of an opponent, she is prone to hold her strategy for longer time through decreasing her strategy-selection time scale; otherwise, she increases the time scale because of losing. We...
